Trivia
- Bulldogs are called bulldogs because they were used in bull baiting, a blood sport like cockfighting in which bulls fought animals to death. After these sports were outlawed in 1835, bulldogs started being bred for looks and sold off as pets. This practice eventually turned bulldogs into animals that can't survive without human intervention: besides breathing, overheating, skin and orthopedic health issues, their oversized heads complicate natural birth; 90% are delivered by Caesarean section.
